Cocktail shaker (optional, for chilled serving)
Serving glass
Knife and cutting board
- 1 ½ cups seedless watermelon cubed
- 2 oz white rum or dark rum for a richer flavor
- 2 tsp pure maple syrup
- 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
- Fresh mint sprigs for garnish
- Ice cubes optional
In a blender, puree the cubed seedless watermelon until smooth. Optionally, strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove pulp for a smoother texture.
In a cocktail shaker or glass, combine 4 oz of watermelon juice with the white rum, maple syrup, and freshly squeezed lime juice. Add a few ice cubes if desired.
Shake well (or stir thoroughly) until the drink is well chilled and fully combined.
Pour into a chilled glass. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig and optionally a small wedge of watermelon or lime on the rim.
✤ Sweetness Adjustment: Depending on the sweetness of your watermelon, you may want to adjust the amount of simple syrup or maple syrup. Start with a small amount and taste before adding more.
✤ Alcohol-Free Version: For a non-alcoholic version, omit the rum and orange liqueur. You can add a splash of soda water or sparkling water for some fizz.
✤ Chill Your Glasses: For an extra refreshing experience, chill your cocktail glasses in the freezer for about 10 minutes before serving.
