Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 packet 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup or agave nectar
  • 1 ¼ cups warm water about 110°F
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted coconut oil

Instructions
 

Step 1: Activate the Yeast

  • In a small bowl, mix the warm water with the maple syrup. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes frothy.

Step 2: Combine Dry Ingredients

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and salt. Stir well to evenly distribute the salt.

Step 3: Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients

  • Pour the yeast mixture and olive oil into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Stir until the dough starts to come together.

Step 4: Knead the Dough

  • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic. If it feels sticky, sprinkle a little more flour as needed.

Step 5: First Rise

  • Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.

Step 6: Shape and Second Rise

  • Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it into a greased loaf pan, cover, and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.

Step 7: Bake

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the bread for 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown, and it sounds hollow when tapped.

Step 8: Cool and Enjoy

  • Remove the bread from the pan and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 20 minutes before slicing.
