Equipment

  • Large pitcher or mixing bowl
  • Blender (or any mixing appliance)
  • Stirring spoon
  • Measuring Cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Can opener (for frozen lemonade concentrate)
  • Glasses for serving
  • Ice cube tray (if needed)

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups light rum pint rum
  • ½ cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 cups ice cubes
  • 7 cups cold water
  • 1 dash grenadine or cherry juice – for color
  • 1 can 12 oz frozen lemonade concentrate
  • Sprite or any lemon-lime soda to top up

Instructions

  • In a large pitcher or bowl, combine the light rum, orange juice, sugar, cold water, and frozen lemonade concentrate. Stir to mix everything thoroughly until the sugar dissolves completely.
  • Add the ice cubes to a blender (you may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your blender). Blend until the ice turns into a slush-like consistency. If you don’t have a blender, you can use a mixing bowl and stir vigorously, or use an ice crusher.
  • Add a dash of grenadine or cherry juice to the mixture. This gives the drink a fun splash of color and a touch of sweetness.
  • Once the slush base is ready, gently stir in Sprite or any lemon-lime soda to your desired level of fizziness. This also adds a nice balance of flavor.
  • Pour the rum slush into glasses filled with ice if desired. Garnish with a cherry, lemon slice, or lime wedge if you’d like to add an extra touch. Sip and enjoy your refreshing Rum Slush!
