  • Mixing bowls (for wet and dry ingredients)
  • Electric mixer or whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula
  • Cooling rack
  • Knife or cake slicer

Ingredients

For the Cake:

  • 1 15.25 oz box of vanilla cake mix
  • 1 box 3.4 oz instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 cup whole milk room temperature
  • cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 cups white chocolate chips

For the Icing:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter room temperature
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

Preheat Oven:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

Prepare the Cake Batter:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the vanilla cake mix, instant vanilla pudding mix, granulated sugar, eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and water. Use an electric mixer on medium speed to mix until smooth (about 2-3 minutes).

Add White Chocolate Chips:

  • Gently fold in the white chocolate chips using a spatula.

Bake the Cake:

  • Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan. Smooth the top with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pan on a wire rack.

Prepare the Icing:

  • In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy and smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, milk, and a pinch of salt. Continue to beat until the icing is fluffy and smooth.

Frost the Cake:

  • Once the cake has cooled, spread the icing evenly over the top using a spatula or butter knife.

Serve and Enjoy:

  • Slice and serve the cake. Enjoy the soft, decadent texture with the sweet, creamy icing!

Notes

I cannot stress this enough: make sure all your ingredients are at room temperature before you begin!
Room temperature eggs, butter, and milk mix together much more easily, ensuring that your cake is perfectly fluffy and smooth. Trust me, this makes a difference.
Also, when making the icing, feel free to adjust the amount of heavy cream or milk depending on the consistency you prefer.
If you want a firmer icing, add less cream, and for a softer, more spreadable consistency, add a bit more.
