Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Electric mixer or whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper or silicone baking mat
  • Cooling rack
  • Spoon or cookie scoop

Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ cups unsalted butter melted and cooled
  • 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ cups brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups bread flour or all-purpose flour
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ¼ cups dark chocolate chunks

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar using an electric mixer or whisk until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla extract. In a separate bowl, whisk together the bread flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix. Stir in the dark chocolate chunks evenly.
  • Use a cookie scoop or spoon to drop dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing the cookies about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden but the centers are still soft.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack to cool completely.

Notes

For the best flavor, allow the cookies to cool completely before serving. This helps the chocolate set and enhances the overall texture.
Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes to prevent spreading and achieve a chewy texture. Let the cookies cool slightly for the flavors to settle, or enjoy them warm for gooey perfection.
