- 1 cup fresh orange juice from about 2–3 oranges
- 1 cup tomato ketchup check for gluten-free if needed
- ¼ cup white vinegar
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce Lea & Perrins is gluten-free
- 1 stick unsalted butter or dairy-free butter alternative
- 2 tablespoons honey
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Start by squeezing about 2–3 fresh oranges until you have 1 cup of juice. Strain to remove pulp if desired. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the stick of butter (or dairy-free alternative).
Stir in the ketchup, orange juice, white vinegar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and honey. Whisk well until smooth.
Bring the sauce to a gentle boil, and then reduce heat to low. Let it simmer uncovered for about 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened slightly.
Add salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and let cool. Transfer to a jar or bottle.
