Ingredients
  

  • cups tomato purée
  • cup distilled white vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons dark corn syrup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • tablespoons molasses
  • ½ teaspoon grated lemon zest
  • 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice concentrate
  • 2 teaspoons A1 steak sauce
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce e.g., Tabasco
  • teaspoons coarse salt
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves

Instructions
 

Combine Ingredients:

  • In a medium saucepan, mix together the tomato purée, distilled white vinegar, dark corn syrup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, molasses, lemon zest, lemon juice, orange juice concentrate, A1 steak sauce, soy sauce, hot sauce, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, and ground cloves.

Heat the Mixture:

  • Place the saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir the mixture continuously to ensure all ingredients are well combined.

Bring to a Boil:

  • Allow the sauce to come to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

Simmer:

  • Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes, or until it thickens to your desired consistency. Stir occasionally.

Cool and Store:

  • Remove the saucepan from heat and let the sauce cool to room temperature. Transfer it to a storage container and refrigerate. The sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
