- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 28 ounces tomato puree
- ⅓ cup yellow mustard prepared
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1½ cups apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 3 cups water
- ¼ cup dark corn syrup see note below
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 tablespoon dry mustard
- 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
Step 2:
Add the yellow mustard, brown sugar, granulated sugar, apple cider vinegar, and dark corn syrup to the saucepan. Stir until everything is well blended.
Step 3:
Mix in the garlic powder, black pepper, paprika, chili powder, dry mustard, cayenne, onion powder, and kosher salt. Stir well to evenly distribute the spices.
Step 6:
After it has thickened slightly and developed a deep, rich flavor, taste and adjust seasoning if needed. If you prefer a thicker sauce, simmer a bit longer.
