- 28 ounces tomato puree
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/3 cup prepared yellow mustard
- 1/4 cup dark corn syrup
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 tablespoon dry mustard
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 3 cups water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional, adjust for heat level
Step 1: Combine the Base Ingredients
In a medium saucepan, combine the tomato puree, apple cider vinegar, dark brown sugar, honey, lemon juice, yellow mustard, and dark corn syrup. Stir the mixture together over medium heat until the ingredients are well combined.
Step 2: Add the Spices
