Measuring spoons and cup
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons honey adjust based on sweetness preference
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 fresh red chili chopped (or 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes for heat)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup water
In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and garlic. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened.
Stir in the chopped fresh red chili (or red pepper flakes), and cook for another 1 minute. Add the fresh blueberries, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, honey, salt, and water to the saucepan.
Bring to a simmer and cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the blueberries break down and the sauce thickens.
Use an immersion blender or a regular blender to puree the sauce to your desired consistency. Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning (add more honey or salt as needed).
Let it cool before transferring to a jar or bottle. Store in the refrigerator for up to 1-2 weeks.
