Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • 9-inch round cake pan
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Bisquick mix
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

Preheat Your Oven:

  • Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan to ensure your cake doesn’t stick.

Mix Wet Ingredients:

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter and sugar until creamy. This usually takes about 2-3 minutes with a hand mixer. Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix in the vanilla extract. Keep stirring until smooth and well combined.

Combine Dry Ingredients:

  • In another bowl, whisk together the Bisquick mix and salt.

Add the Dry Ingredients:

  • Gradually add the Bisquick mixture to the wet ingredients in batches, alternating with milk. Start and end with the dry mixture. Mix just until combined—do not overbeat.

Pour into the Pan:

  • Pour the batter into your prepared cake pan and spread it evenly with a spatula.

Bake the Cake:

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. The cake should be golden brown and firm to the touch.

Cool and Serve:

  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before serving. If desired, frost with your favorite frosting or enjoy it plain!
