- 5 very ripe large bananas or 6-7 small bananas
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter softened
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup Nutella or more, based on preference
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper. In a large bowl, mash the very ripe bananas using a fork or potato masher until smooth with some lumps.
In another bowl, cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and mashed bananas.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined.
Gently swirl in the Nutella into the batter. You can either fold it into the batter completely or leave some streaks for a more marbled effect.
Pour the banana-Nutella batter into the prepared loaf pan. Smooth the top with a spatula. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean (a few moist crumbs are okay).
Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice the banana bread and enjoy this indulgent treat!
➤ Banana Ripeness: The riper the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful your banana bread will be. The blacker the skin, the better!
➤ Nutella Options: If you’re a Nutella fanatic, feel free to increase the amount of Nutella for an extra indulgent experience. You could even spread a little extra on top before serving for that extra chocolatey goodness.
➤ Storage: Store the banana bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. If you want it to last longer, you can freeze individual slices. Just wrap them in plastic wrap or foil and store them in a freezer bag for up to 2 months.
